Lois Deardorff asked:

How can I find information, books, publications about Elaine Jack, a former General Relief Society President? I need info to give a talk about her. Appreciate your help. I have already tried Deseret Book, who recommended you. Thanks.

Response:

We don’t have any books on Elaine Jack, nor do we know of any. But we found that Google offers a number of hits when we typed in her name. We wish we could do more, but that’s the best we can offer.

Matt asked:

I am creating an ad for the BYU Book Exchange for my marketing class, and I was wondering why the BYU Bookstore offers this service to students. From a business perspective, I do not understand why you would offer a service that competes with your own. Thank you.

Response:

While offering a book exchange seems to violate what many see as our long tradition of fleecing and oppressing the student, we actually do have a tiny bright spot in our black Bookstore heart. When this program was developed by a graduate student, we bought it from him to make it a part of our offerings. Yes, it does compete with our book buy back, but then it offers the student has an additional choice. From a business perspective why would we do this? Because we are a service organization first and a business second.

Todd asked:

Why are there rarely plain chips (that is plain potato chips, corn chips, Sun chips, tortilla chips, etc.) in the small bags in the Twilight Zone? All they ever have there are flavored!

Response:

Todd, both FritoLay and the Bookstore want to please the customer, but our contract puts the FritoLay guy in charge of keeping the shelves full and choosing the chips. We can mention when we see him that we would like more (or less) of a certain kind, but the day we ask his truck is already loaded and he is bringing what has been planned. We have asked for more plain and hope enough have been delivered to satisfy you. If not, let us know.

Julia asked:

No question, just a rant. I have been a proud graduate of BYU for many years. I teach at a school where we have college day once a month and each of is supposed to wear a college t-shirt. I NEVER wear one and people are beginning to think that I am not proud of my college. The fact is, that my college is not proud enough of me to make BYU t-shirts available in large enough sizes for me. I can't even find an iron-on so I can make my own t-shirt. I thought I had found one on your website and ordered it, only to find out that it is not in stock and my order was cancelled. Once again I will have to wear my BYU colors without a logo and explain to anyone who asks that I couldn't find a t-shirt. I don't expect that many larger people would order a t-shirt, but couldn't you carry iron-ons? These can be applied to any size shirt, bag, etc. Just an idea.

Response:

Are we glad you wrote! Things are changing around here. We now carry up to 3XL in t-shirts and some sweatshirts in navy, grey, and occasionally white. For every 48 pieces that come to the store, 4 are size 3XL. That’s the largest size we can find in Unisex, otherwise known as men’s (but no one ever checks the tag if the wearer is a woman). Women’s t-shirts are now available in 2XL. Dita deKeyser at 422-6817 can help you find what you want. In addition, our Custom Specialties Department has access to different styles of garments including Big and Tall clothing. And furthermore, they can send items out for custom embroidery or imprinting (additional charge, unfortunately). The person to contact is Becky Walker at 422-2595. Anything else? Just let us know.

anonymous asked:

What all do you need to get a full refund for textbooks before the deadline? Is it just your receipt, ID, and books in good condition?

Response:

Yes. That’s it. (We prefer an ID, but you’ll get your cash back without one.)
