Hey, 2 of my brothers-in-law are in my same physics class and for whatever reason they will not be available during the sell-back dates at the end of the semester. Am I able to sell back more than 1 of the same book if the course is going to use the book the next semester?
You may help your brothers-in-law without any fear. At sell-back, we are just buying books, and two or three of the same title from one person is not a problem. Ten or twenty? Hmmm. We’d then have a few questions. (By the way, congratulations on writing “brothers-in-law” instead of “brother-in-laws.”)(Posted 4/3/2009)
I'm looking into doing a stats project on the book exchange. Who would I talk to about getting data on how many transactions go through, and the prices of the books bought and sold.
Dave, I have created an unusually high number of misunderstandings in trying to find the answer to your straightforward question, and I apologize. I hope you’re still interested in that stats project because I now have your answer. The person you need to talk to would be the highly trained and exceptionally friendly Jennifer Berry, reachable at jennifer_berry@byu.edu(Posted 3/28/2009)
Hey! On the bottom of the archives of questions that have been asked, do you think you could maybe make it so that the page number of the page the viewer looks at is in bold or something? It's hard for me to remember which page I am viewing at the moment. Thanks!
A careful look reveals that the current page number is displayed right above the total page numbers---page 7 of 19, for instance. But we’re going to make it so your look doesn’t need to be quite so careful.(Posted 3/13/2009)
I would love to purchase a woman's BYU wrist watch with large numbers and a silver stretch band or a silver clip-on bracelet-type band. I have only seen wrist watches there with the BYU logo for men. A decent price would be nice as well($30.00-$75.00). Could I order one from the bookstore, or is it possible for the BYU WOMAN'S watches to be added to the watches on the shelf for sell. There are probably other ladies would love to have one! Thank you, Kathy Tiney
Kathy, you obviously are a woman who knows what she wants. And we are a retail business who, unfortunately, can’t grant your wish. Why? 1. We have very little demand for women’s watches of any kind. Currently we have four different styles in stock, and they do not sell well. 2. No doubt you believe if we offered one with your specifications, that would change in a hurry. Frankly, we’d love to prove you right. And . . . 3. If we could find a vendor to make up a dozen or so, we would bring them in. But . . . 4. Our vendors who create watches with a BYU logo offer very limited styles and, due to the cost of design, set-up, and tooling, also require very large minimum orders. Therefore . . . 5. Since we have almost no call for BYU women’s watches, any women’s BYU watch is a gamble at best. So . . . 6. We can’t grant your wish. And . . . 7. We are sorry.(Posted 3/4/2009)
Regarding the "My Book List" feature linked to from Route Y... if Fall 2008 information isn't available until August 26th, why even bother listing Winter, Spring, and Summer 2009 in the drop down box? I hope it wasn't to save time.
Our best guess is that it was done to save time, that the programmers just wanted to be efficient and list future terms so they wouldn’t have to dive back into the code every time a new semester rolls around. We actually haven’t checked with them to see if that is true, but we are trying to figure out if it is a huge inconvenience to students to have additional semesters listed and keep coming up empty. Are we missing something here?(Posted 2/27/2009)
